Organizing

I have finally organized my loft space. It has taken me 1 1/2 years to tackle it full on. It had become a war zone to the point I feared for my life upon entering the space. Lucky for me this is upstairs at my house so I don't really 'see' the space, but something had to give. Now that work is super hectic I can organize. I function well when I'm scheduled to the max, too much free time and I can't get anything done. I thought I would share some things I ran across while rummaging through the mess.

I found my grandfather's obituary so I thought I'd post a pic of this man...isn't he the cutest!

Can you believe I ran across pix of Princess Diana on this weekend? Me neither. While I didn't get into the royal wedding at all I did peruse the pix. The Duchess Catherine looked beautiful.

I ran across more design tear outs I love. Excuse the scanning. It may be time for a new one. I love the color of this room with the details of the wall and chandelier...not a fan of the furniture.

I like the colors and variety of textures in this room. Granted it did come from the Sherwin Williams catalog so the color should be spot on.

Look how fun this purple kitchen is, who knew!

These are the things I uncovered while organizing the war zone. I'm happy to report my drafting table is free of paper/mail piles, and I can get back to drawing. It's been a very exciting Saturday!!!

Things I Love This Week!

Freshome Blog
Apparently, I feel the need to justify my wanting to paint my bedroom black. Above is another example of how lovely the color works in a room...yes, that's my opinion.

Everyone needs a HOT PINK bookcase!

Another chaise lounge for my library in my fav color too!

Last but not least I *heart* the Austin Fire Department & EMT. They came to our rescue today out on the Greenbelt. My friend decided ligaments in her ankle were overrated and she took a tumble. These awesome people came down the trail to get her out...notice there are like 17 of them. My friend is in the canoe looking thing (if I showed you a better pic her face would be in pic & she'd kill me) ontop of a gigantic wheel to get her out. Thank you AFD & EMT!!!

This room is so elegant, the dark floors, the drapes, hello, fluffy rug. But really the chaise belongs in my future library. Don't you think?

Young the Giant
Completely obsessed with their song, My Body. I sing and dance to it non-stop. Bless the neighbor's heart.

Glamorous

I ran across the most beautiful picture on Martha Angus' blog the other day and it got me thinking about the glamour of Old Hollywood. Or maybe I'm just feeling nostalgic from the pic I ran across. Simple, elegant and classy...I like them all!

This picture takes my breath away, the soft lavender and grace of the entire photo.
It's Elizabeth Taylor, need I say more...I'm still sad she's gone so soon.

1950's Vogue Magazine so simple and classic.

Edith Head so famous for her Hollywood costumes. The woman is amazing!

The infamous Marilyn Monroe dress also created by Edith Head
Breakfast at Tiffany's sketch also from Edith Head.

One of my favorite Vogue covers.

I just like this pic the lighting, color and simplicity of it.

Books

Probably the biggest love of my life is books. This love fest started at a very young age when my mother would read to me before bed. I was obsessed learning how to read on my own. I can remember staring at the pages and wondering when I would be able to understand all the black print. It didn't take long before I understood the random letters on the pages of these beautiful books, and I was off and reading. To this day I read about 40-50 books a year. Right now I'm collecting ideas to create a library in my loft space. Enjoy!

I love the chair in this library.

I want a globe in my library too!

Things I'm Lovin' This Week

Random graphics/photography. Sorry, I have no idea where I found this one.

I know what you're thinking, "will she ever get over this color?" Outlook not good or blame it on spring weather...your choice;-)

The National
I heart this band. I got to see them at ACL this year. Loved every minute of it!

My latest toe polish. I love OPI polish they offer a zillion colors making it very difficult to choose just one. This stuff ain't cheap, but it stays on forever, love!

Mark Rothko
I love coffee table books and am always on the hunt for my next one...perhaps, this is it.

houzz.com
The simplicity of this kitchen makes my heart sing. I am obsessed with two different websites at the moment. 1- houzz.com is loaded with amazing design pix from designers, architects and various other creative peeps. You can create a login and start your own idea book by clicking on posted pictures. I'm constantly saving ideas I may someday want to incorporate in my own designs or just use as inspiration. The second site I love is pintinterst. Basically, you can pin any graphic on the web and add to your boards you've created on this site. Another way to store amazing ideas. I won't mention my 3-ring binders I use for the magazines I rip apart and save. Hmmm...
And that's what I'm lovin' for this week!
