E.A.S.T Austin Tour

It was a fantastic weekend, hanging out with old college friends, perusing art, meeting new people and live music, of course. How was your weekend?
Below are some of the awesome artists I saw during the E.A.S.T Austin Tour. Enjoy~
Haven by Rebecca Rothfus
You really need to see Rebecca's stuff in person the layers are amazing. I love work that involves pencil, it reminds me of all the sketching I had to do in Design school.
Matt Mason
Matt has a variety of sketches, drawings and sculpture. It was fun chatting with him about his process and the things he finds to put in his work. Different for sure!
Elisa Gomez
Reconciliation by Paul Meyer
One of my stops I ran into my first Drawing Professor from Design school. Technically, he's an artist and I totally forgot he has work all over Austin. I ran into him and was reintroducing myself to him (it's been 5 years since I've seen him), he had that glazed over look, like, no recollection of me at all. Anyway, I didn't take a pic of his work and his site doesn't let me download, but check him out. Shawn Camp.
Ok, seems quite a few artists don't let you use work from their website and I didn't snap pix at all of our stops...bummed. One artist is sending me a Jpeg of a hers I loved...I will share it soon.
It was a great tour!!!

Simple doesn't mean without color. Love the art and dark wood floor pattern!

Concrete wall covers designed by Tom Haga. An interesting concept to say the least. Go for the concrete look, then if your taste change rip the wall cover off. Not a bad idea.

More Progress

Finished painting my bedroom. Before pics are here

Now to deal with all the little things and tchotckes to complete the space. Want/need way more pillows for the bed, a colorful throw and build a headboard. Notice I'm not showing you the other half of the room. That side needs art work for the wall and I have to stain the chest of drawers. Decisions, decisions...the fun never ends!

Walking East

I joined a friend this weekend to tour some art. I thought I would share some random things I saw while tooling around. Not too worry I will share the awesome artists I saw just not today:-)

Life

In Progress

Finally, I'm putting my thoughts into action. I made the commitment to a black bedroom this weekend. It's in transit so you only get a sneak peak for today. I have to say I'm really digging the contrasting colors between the uber dark walls and light wood flooring. Took me long enough to move this want forward.

Progress:

Like I said, it's in transit. I'm sick today so can't finish the last 2 walls. Still figuring out what I'll do with the windows. While I might be the only person, I LOVE the black walls. Even if the lady at Treehouse questioned my choice, I knew it would work for me:-)

Winning

"It will BEAT YOU to your knees
and keep you there permanently if you let it.
You, Me or Nobody is going to HIT as
HARD AS LIFE.
But it AINT about how hard YOU hit,
it is about how hard YOU can get HIT and keep
moving FORWARD, how much YOU can take
AND KEEP MOVING FORWARD. That's how
WINNING is done!"

Photography

Oh, photography, how I love thee. While I'm not so good at it, I love going out and finding things to capture with the lens. Perhaps, some day I will capture exactly what I see. Let me just say with the help of Pinterest I've seen some amazing shots that I'm completely jealous of but grateful I get to experience and hopefully, can learn from.
