Happy Thanksgiving!!!

via Pinterest

"May today there be peace within. May you trust that you are exactly where you are meant to be. May you not forget the infinite possibilities that are born of faith in yourself and others. May you use the gifts that you have received, and pass on the love that has been given to you. May you be content with yourself just the way you are. Let this knowledge settle into your bones, and allow your soul the freedom to sing, dance, praise, and love. It is there for each and every one of us."

RIP Elizabeth Taylor

It was a sad commute this morning...I was on the entrance ramp to I-35 when I heard the news, Elizabeth Taylor had passed away. Sad, sad morning...RIP.

Some great quotes from the Woman:

The problem with people who have no vices is that generally you can be pretty sure they're going to have some pretty annoying virtues.

If someone's dumb enough to offer me a million dollars to make a picture, I'm certainly not dumb enough to turn it down.

Did you know Elizabeth Taylor was the first actress to make over $1 million...this tidbit comes from WSJ.com

Motivation

I was off to such a good blog start in the new year then somewhere along the way fell off the wagon. So how 'bout a quote I read on Twitter this am. Enjoy!

Art

Art is what we call...

the thing an artist does.
It's not the medium or the oil or the price or whether it hangs on a wall or you eat it. What matters, what makes it art, is that the person who made it overcame the resistance, ignored the voice of doubt and made something worth making. Something risky. Something human.
Art is not in the eye of the beholder. It's in the soul of the artist.

Another fantastic quote posted on a blog I follow.
I totally agree the hardest part is starting the work. Tons of fear sets in, what will people think/say, but at the end of the day all that matters is that you poured your heart into it and enjoyed it.

I'm obsessed with architecture. It's an obsession that started in my childhood. I used to tape pieces of loose leaf paper together and draw out my dream home. There were always several versions going on at any given time. The above pix are from my trip to NYC back in November.

Simple I know but I love Mark Rothko paintings.

The above 2 pieces are from Mackenzie Childs who hand paints ceramics, furniture and tons of other things. I've loved her stuff forever. Reminds me of Alice & Wonderland. No 2 pieces in the ceramics are alike.

Me just piddlin' with my iPhone...bay bridge back to SF.
Frank Gehry- Love his wacky buildings. I believe this is a hotel in Spain...not 100%.

Happy Valentine's Day

A blessed thing it is for any man or woman to have a friend, one human soul whom we can trust utterly, who knows the best and worst of us, and who loves us in spite of all our faults.
Charles Kingsley

Whatever we are waiting for - peace of mind, contentment, grace, the inner awareness of simple abundance - it will surely come to us, but only when we are ready to receive it with an open and grateful heart.

It's Been Awhile

I haven't posted a quote in sometime. Today while perusing blogs I ran across one I couldn't refuse. Enjoy!

50 Years Ago Today

January 20, 1961, John F. Kennedy delivered his Inaugural Address. Obviously, I wasn't around but the following quote from his address is something I think we all remember: "And so, my fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you; ask what you can do for your country."
