I Dig

Art that I enjoyed during Art City Austin this past Sunday...
Lisa Crowder
Ok, that's not exactly a painting, but there was some cool jewelry at the event as well. Check her stuff out.
Jana Epstein Photography
The above picture does not do Jana's work justice. Her photography with the frames she chooses is outstanding! You really need to see this exhibit in person.

Downtown

Fun day at Art City Austin and random things seen downtown.
I love the 3-D signs that are always at this event. I am partial to the colors of the eat sign, though!

Fun exhibit. Austin Energy put on a contest of designing used refrigerator doors. These were my fav!

Now for the random pix I took downtown...I'll post the artists I enjoyed on another post.
Love the lines created by the balconies and windows on the W Hotel. Can't beat 1st St. Bridge being closed so one can stand in the middle and stare at downtown.

Philosophy

Artist Hetty Metzger

I've read this little philosophy a hundred times this weekend. I'm not kidding, granted it has a little to do with the fact I follow them on Twitter and get e-mail updates from them as well. However, this philosophy is really resonating with me.
"You don't get what you want, you get what you are."

Art = LOVE

I Love Art and that's no surprise to you now is it...
Leah Haney
Leah Haney is currently on display at Laguna Gloria. I highly recommend seeing it. Small exhibit but super cool. You may even see my peacock friend. I probably need to give him a name since we see each other on a weekly basis.

Art Work I'm Lovin'

I've seen some really cool and different art lately that I thought I would share with you. Do you have a favorite artist?
Nat Nicklin
James Nares
Steve Mills
Steve Mills
The above 2 paintings look like photographs...guess what, they aren't...they are indeed oil paintings on aluminum. This guy is super talented!

Francois Marie Banier
Francois Marie Banier
I first read about Francois Marie Banier's work on the design blog, Sketch42, I follow. The above 2 paintings/photography are actual pictures Francois took then he paints over them. He has a fantastic website of all his work. Love!

E.A.S.T

Oh, Austin in the fall is one festivity after another...One of my fav is the E.A.S.T. Austin Studio Tour. Thank goodness they've now made this event cover 2 full weekends otherwise it's impossible to see it all. We went out today for a leisure bike ride and to check some stuff out. I can't lie we didn't get to see much, but today will give me the motivation to sit down and plan this thing to enjoy next weekend as well.

I would like this piece as a headboard.

Yes, he pedals with you for extra motivation.

Art

I love art...I lean towards abstract, but then other types strike my fancy when I least expect it. Lucky for me last Sunday was free museum day in Austin. Yippee for me! Now truth be told I can only see so many exhibits in one day before it all blurs together. I chose 2 places I wanted to visit and off I went. I chose Blanton Museum and Women and Their Work. No particular reason on why I chose these two, other than I always love going to Blanton and I had never been to Women and Their Work. The following pics are random ones I found on the internet...enjoy~
